Welcome to our Order of Service page! Each week, a team of pastors and staff get together to collaborate on the liturgy, or order of service, for Sunday. Every element is prayerfully and carefully crafted so that the Gospel, God’s redemptive story to save a people for Himself in and through His Son Jesus Christ, would be clear and compelling. We hope you’ll enjoy following along with us as we present and rehearse the Gospel again this morning.

The Simple Sermon

Friendship in marriage, between Christ-followers, reflects their unity in Christ and will grow deeper and stronger as they imitate the Savior, who gave up what he had every right to hold on to, in order to serve others.

Why We Chose These Songs & Scriptures

This Sunday’s service looks ahead to the theme of friendship in marriage. As we come to Philippians 2, we will be reminded that our relationships are not meant to be ruled by self-interest, but by the mind of Christ. He humbled himself, gave himself for us, and now teaches us how to love one another.

We begin with our call to corporate worship from Romans 6:23, celebrating the free gift of salvation in Christ. Before we consider our relationships with one another, we remember the relationship God has restored with us through the gospel.

Our first song, No Other Savior, leads us in adoration. It lifts our eyes to Christ as the only one who can save us, and the only one worthy of our worship.

From there, Abide gives us language for confession and assurance. We confess our need for Christ, and we rejoice that he draws near, holds us fast, and teaches us to remain in him.

The responsive scripture reading reminds us that God is our refuge and portion forever. It prepares us to sing not as self-sufficient people, but as those who belong to Christ and depend on him.

That leads into Christ is Mine Forevermore, a song of thanksgiving and anticipation. Because Christ is ours and we are his, we are freed to love others without grasping for control or demanding our own way, even as we look ahead to the day when we’ll behold him face to face.

Our offertory song, A Mighty Fortress, reminds us that the Lord is our strength and defense. Our hope is not in ourselves, but in the God who rules, protects, and keeps his people.

Finally, Philippians 2:1–13 will call us to have the mind of Christ: to count others more significant than ourselves and to look not only to our own interests, but also to the interests of others. That kind of love is essential in every Christian relationship, and especially in marriage, where God gives us a living picture of friendship, humility, service, and unity.

Overall, the service moves from the salvation we receive in Christ, to the refuge we find in Christ, to the humility we learn from Christ.
