Care Portal

There are so many who are being impacted in our community through loss of employment and income. We have been hearing regularly from the school district and others about needy families within our valley. Recently, Grace has joined a network of community needs called CarePortal. This platform helps connect churches to needs posted by the Department of Children and Family Services, our local school districts, and others. Meeting these needs plays the vital role of helping families in crisis and connecting them to Godly families and churches.

If you or your ABF/Grace Group would be open to meeting needs and showing the hope of Christ, email outreach@gracebaptist.org for more information. God wants to mobilize His church for good and Gospel during this season!

Help for Our Quarantined Marriages By, Sarah Walton & Jeff Walton

REACH OPPORTUNITY

We have heard from so many of you who are recognizing how unique a chance we have to know and bless our neighbors. In nearly every neighborhood in our valley, people want to be connected to those who live around them. Grace, let’s continue to lean into this opportunity God has given us. In service, in love, and in relationship—let’s be in our neighborhoods for good and Gospel. God has sovereignly placed YOU on YOUR street for HIS glory!

ELDER TEAM UPDATE

The Elder Team has grown together through prayer, study, and honest reflection, with that, they are enjoying a renewed season of unity. Two years ago the team adopted a strategy to release some elders to enjoy a year-long sabbatical when new elders were brought on. That process is now taking shape. Given the Elder Team is working with two new candidates, two of the current members have asked to take their leave. Months ago, Paul Leitzell announced his plan to relocate to North Carolina and has officially resigned from the team. As well, Mike McGrath has been granted a sabbatical. His job in the financial services area has become quite demanding and he recognizes the need to prioritize his time with his family. Both of these brothers leave the team in good standing, and we so appreciate their service to Grace.

EXECUTIVE PASTOR SEARCH

The Elder Team has approved a new position and soon a search will begin for an Executive Pastor. The Executive Pastor will serve the congregation as a kind of Chief Operating Officer, or Chief of Staff. His duties will include managing the staff to align ministries, equipping them to grow in their giftedness, and bringing overall cohesion and efficiency as Grace Baptist continues to strengthen its core ministries and broaden its outreach. Please pray for the Lord’s leading to fill this important new position with the right man.

GO Team Update

It is eerie to consider that our partners all over the world are in similar situations to what we are experiencing here, many of them with additional layers of complication. After much contact with our host partners and a season of prayer and counsel, we have made the decision to postpone or cancel all but two of our Grace Outreach Teams this year. In some instances, this decision was made for us by travel restrictions and country closures. In others, we recognize that we cannot keep those involved in limbo as we wait to see what changes might come. Meeting, preparation, and fundraising, are uniquely challenging during this season.

I am so thankful for the heart that so many in our church have shown—an eagerness to go, to give, and to pray. That generosity reflects the heart of the Father for the lost and for the nations. He is pleased with whatever efforts we have made, and in Him, because of Him, those efforts are not wasted. Please reach out with questions and concerns you might have. And please, more than anything, pray for the hope and life of Jesus Christ to shine brightly in the darkening corners of our world and our community.

Grace to you, Pastor Jared

GRACE KIDS

Weekly Scripture: John 20:24-31
Memory Verse: John 20:31 "But these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name."

Review and Application:
Last weekend we celebrated the resurrected Jesus! He appeared to Mary and His disciples to prove that He indeed conquered death by rising from the grave, which paid the debt of sin for those who would believe in Him.

Discussion Questions:

  1. Why was it important for Jesus to conquer the grave?
  2. What does Jesus call everyone to do given His death and resurrection?
  3. Talk about what it means to believe in Jesus with your family?

5 Predictions for the COVID-19 Aftermath  by Collin Hansen

GET READY FOR COMMUNION

This Sunday, during our online service, we will take time to celebrate the Lord's Supper. We have a unique opportunity to experience communion a little differently this weekend. In preparation for our online service, plan to have some juice and bread or crackers that you can use at home to join in for the communion portion of the service. We're looking forward to participating together, even though we are apart during this season.

REACH OPPORTUNITY

As a church family, we want to be active in our community during the COVID-19 pandemic. Along with other churches in the SCV, we learned of a need to help feed the medical staff who are directly caring for COVID-19 patients at Henry Mayo. These staff are not allowed to leave the quarantine area during their shift. We want to bless those who are working on the frontlines and therefore, we have committed to providing meals for 2 different shifts every Wednesday for the next four weeks. Let’s come together to serve those who are serving our community!
If you or your ABF/Grace Group would be open to purchasing a meal for these staff members, please email outreach@gracebaptist.org

NEIGHBORING

We often look to the helpful tools of program and events to reach our community and world. But, right now, most of us are restricted to our homes and neighborhoods—what a great season to be good neighbors! Below is a card that can be a tool to connect with and serve your neighbors. It explains your willingness to help and provides information to be connected. In a safe and responsible way, don’t waste this opportunity to establish or deepen relationships in your neighborhood, provide tangible help, and be a source of encouragement and light on your street!

SUPPORTING GRACE FINANCIALLY .... A FEW THOUGHTS

Grace Family, we are exceedingly thankful for all of you who support Grace Baptist financially. During this unprecedented time, it has been a great encouragement to experience the Grace Family continuing to be generous through sacrificial giving. Our desire is to continue paying our staff, as there are still many tasks we are undertaking daily, as well as being able to meet needs in the Grace family as they come up.

If you are personally in a place that allows you to participate in the financial needs of Grace, thank you! On the other hand, if these times have made finances difficult for you, please do not feel a pressure to give, that is between you and the Lord. We believe God has His hand on Grace and will provide for what is needed through His people. If you find yourself in need physically, emotionally or financially, please reach out, we are eager to see how Grace might be able to come alongside you. The easiest way to do that is to email info@gracebaptist.org and share you name, contact info and the nature of your need.

If you are interested to learn about giving electronically through your bank or online to Grace, click here.

Here's a short video tutorial about online giving.
