One of our main goals as a ministry to kids is to support parents as the primary disciplers of their children. In our weekend Grace Kids classes the truth of God's Word is talked about in age appropriate ways. These questions are designed to help you extend the weekend lesson from church and engage in conversation with your kids. If you have questions or suggestions, please let us know.

Bible Passage: Ezra 1-3

Abstract:  Last weekend we saw Israel return from their very long exile! After 70 years of being in captivity by the Babylonians, God fulfills His promise to send them back to their land. Cyrus King of Persia conquered the Babylonian empire and issued a decree for the Jews to return to Jerusalem. God put it in the heart of Cyrus to not only send them back, but for them to rebuild the Temple that was destroyed by the Chaldeans. This is exciting news for Israel! They get another chance to worship God together freely. God is surely Israel's promise keeper and ours as well! He sent Jesus so that we can worship freely with the Church. Through Jesus we can have a right relationship with God without a Temple because he dwells in us. This was always God's promise to His people.

Dinner Discussions:

  1. 3 year Old's- Kindergarten
    1. What promise did God keep to His people?
  2. 1st Grade- 6th Grade
    1. How do we know we can trust God to keep His promises? How does the Bible show us He does? Ex: Read Jer. 29:10
    2. Why was the rebuilding of the Temple a crucial part to Israel's freedom back into the land? (the Temple was a symbol of God's presence with His people and their ability to obey the Law)
    3. The ultimate promise was for God to send us Jesus to have a right relationship with Him. How can we trust in Jesus everyday even when it is hard to do so?
