One of our main goals as a ministry to kids is to support parents as the primary disciplers of their children. In our weekend Grace Kids classes the truth of God's Word is talked about in age appropriate ways. These questions are designed to help you extend the weekend lesson from church and engage in conversation with your kids. If you have questions or suggestions, please let us know. kids@gracebaptist.org

Bible Passage: Malachi

Abstract: Last weekend we came to our final lesson in the Old Testament! Wow, what an amazing experience I hope you have had learning about God's people Israel. Malachi is the last prophet Israel will hear from until the coming of John the Baptist in the New Testament. After the completion of Jerusalem's reconstruction, Israel thought they would be fully restored as a complete nation with their Messianic king! However, what came was hardship and financial burden. Instead of trusting in God they cursed His name and fell back into their sin by not tithing, giving to the poor, and having a corrupt priesthood. God used Malachi to exhort them to repent and turn back to God. Yet, in his message of judgment he gave a message of hope to those who remained faithful to God. God after 400 years of silence will speak once again, then send the very hope of Israel and the entire world, Jesus the Messiah!

Dinner Discussions:

  1. 3 year Old's- 6th Grade
    1. Why did Israel turn away from God even though He just brought them back into their land?
    2. What was Malachi's message to Israel?
    3. Why is it important to trust in God even when life gets difficult?
    4. Israel was supposed to offer their best sacrifices to God but didn’t because life was difficult. What can we sacrifice in our lives that help us honor God with our whole hearts?
