One of our main goals as a ministry to kids is to support parents as the primary disciplers of their children. In our weekend Grace Kids classes the truth of God's Word is talked about in age appropriate ways. These questions are designed to help you extend the weekend lesson from church and engage in conversation with your kids. If you have questions or suggestions, please let us know.

Bible Passage: Luke 1 Abstract: After 400 years of silence, God spoke once again through the angel Gabriel to a man named Zechariah. This weekend we see God telling Zechariah that after many years of not having children, He would answer his prayer. Doubting God's promise to him, God muted Zechariah until God fulfilled His promise. A little boy was born who would be later known as John the Baptist! John the Baptist was born to call Israel to repent and prepare for their coming... Read More

Bible Passage: Matthew 1; Luke 3; John 1 Abstract: Last weekend we began the New Testament! How exciting is that! But before we get into it, remember when we talked about the Messiah coming from the seed of a woman in Genesis? What about from Abraham, Isaac and Jacob? Remember when God promised David that the King/Messiah would be from His lineage? Last weekend we saw how all of those promises in the Old Testament are fulfilled by the birth of Jesus! The promises that we have learned... Read More

Bible Passage: Nehemiah 8-13 Abstract: Last week we saw Jerusalem under Nehemiah's leadership build their wall in 52 days! Now with the law built what comes next? Well, though the wall provided physical protection they are still missing components of their heritage! Most importantly, the focus on the Law of God. They have forgotten over the 70 years in exile what it meant to follow the one true God as a people group. The first steps were building the wall and Temple, but Ezra... Read More

Bible Passage: Nehemiah 1-6 Abstract: One of the most important rules for Ancient society is having walls! Wall's provided protection for its people and a central location for community. After the destruction of Jerusalem, Israel lost their sense of protection and identity because of the ruined Temple and wall. As Israel began rebuilding the Temple, God called Nehemiah to return to Jerusalem from Artaxerxes service to rebuild the Wall. After much opposition from ruler's,... Read More

Bible Passage: Esther Abstract: The past few weeks we have been learning about Israel's return from exile after the Babylonian captivity. However, not all of God's people returned to the land! Some of them decided to stay in Persia. Last weekend we learned about a woman named Esther who stayed in the Persian empire eventually becoming Queen! After a turn of events, a man named Haman became very powerful in the Empire, so  powerful that the King demanded everyone to... Read More

Bible Passage: Ezra 4-6, Haggai Abstract: Last weekend we continued in our study of Israel's return to  Jerusalem.  One thing we talked about last week was that King Cyrus decreed for the Temple to be rebuilt which is a good thing! However, the building came to a halt when Jerusalem neighbors tried to stop it from being built!  In fact, they were successful and Jerusalem stopped building it for a long time, moving on to building their homes. This is... Read More

Bible Passage: Ezra 1-3 Abstract:   Last weekend we saw Israel return from their very long exile! After 70 years of being in captivity by the Babylonians, God fulfills His promise to send them back to their land. Cyrus King of Persia conquered the Babylonian empire and issued a decree for the Jews to return to Jerusalem. God put it in the heart of Cyrus to not only send them back, but for them to rebuild the Temple that was destroyed by the Chaldeans. This is exciting news... Read More

Bible Passages:  Obadiah Abstract:  Last weekend we looked at the message of Obadiah. Remember way back when we talked about Jacob and Esau? Many years later these two individuals will produce two nations, Israel and Edom. The effect of Jacob stealing Esau's blessing continued throughout their generations. After many years later their rivalry became most evident. We saw the Babylonians capture the Southern Kingdom of Judah and guess who watched and were happy about... Read More

But, this weekend we see God deliver Daniel from a den of lions! After a transition of power from Babylon to Persian rule, Daniel finds favor from the new King Darius setting him over all other high officials of the kingdom. In jealousy, these officials influence King Darius to sign a law that only allows prayers to the... Read More

Bible Passage: Daniel 4 Abstract: This weekend we meet the fate of King Nebuchadnezzar. In a dream, King Neb saw a tree that grew to the heavens and a watcher from heaven came down an ordered him to cut it down. Bible Passage: Ezekiel 37 Abstract:  Last weekend we looked  at the prophecy of Ezekiel, the prophet to speak a message of hope during Judah's exile. Its like Judah's back in Egypt, lost and hopeless. But God is a God of hope and truth! He has reminded His people that their suffering is not permanent but a step towards their future hope. God takes a very dead thing (dry bones) and breathes into it life and flesh, a representation of Israel's current state.... Read More

Bible Passage: Habakkuk Abstract:  This past weekend we learned about Habakkuk! What I love about Habakkuk is that he teaches us patience and trust in the Lord in the midst of evil. Habakkuk witnessed the captivity of Judah and sees all the wrong that has come about it. What turns into an angry complaint against God, turns into a humble trust in waiting upon God’s promises. Habakkuk recognizes that Judah deserves its captivity but regains hope that one day God would restore... Read More

Bible Book: Jeremiah Abstract: Last weekend we looked at the Prophet Jeremiah! We know Jeremiah as the weeping prophet who warned Israel of their destruction by the Babylonians. His message is consistent with all of the rest, God will judge them for their disobedience but there is hope! Bible Passage: 2 Chronicles 29; 34-35 Abstract: This weekend we looked  at the two good kings of Judah; Hezekiah and Josiah. These were the main kings who followed the law of God by destroying false temple worship. They had a heart to serve God in righteousness which to be honest has been quite rare… These kings taught and exemplified God’s law to the people of Judah after having many kings fail to love and honor God. The hope in this is that God... Read More

Isaiah's message was of judgment and hope, that God would judge Israel for their disobedience but will ultimately send the Suffering Servant on their behalf! Bible Passage: 2 Kings 17 Abstract: This weekend, we went back into King's to learn what happened to Israel. As we have discussed before, Israel has continually disobeyed God and His commandments. After showing much patience and loving Kindness towards them through the words of the Prophets, God will fulfill what he said in 1 Kings 14:15 . Due to Israel's unfaithfulness, God allowed Assyria to take the Northern Kingdom of Israel and exile the Jew's from their land!... Read More

Bible Book: Hosea Abstract: This past weekend we jumped into the book of Hosea. What an amazing picture of God’s love! We have witnessed Israel time after time show their unfaithfulness to God by worshiping their own made up gods.  These accounts are seen all the way back in Exodus…guys it’s been like hundreds of years… To demonstrate this unfailing love, He uses Hosea. Hosea was called to marry an unfaithful woman and continue to pursue a... Read More

Book: Jonah Abstract:   Hello Families! This weekend we learned about the Prophet Jonah! Otherwise known as, “the one that was swallowed by a fish.” The reason for this swallowing is that Jonah instead of listening TO God ran FROM God. What Jonah didn’t understand is that God is a loving and gracious God towards everyone, not just Israel. The people Jonah was supposed to minister to were the Ninevites, a people known for their ruthless actions toward other... Read More
