Summer Missions 2006

Summer Missions 2005

text

Our summer ministry sites are carefully selected to provide our teams the opportunity to make a spiritual impact cross-culturally.  The trips are not vacations, nor are they simply an exposure to missions.  We send people where their gifts and energies can be used by the Lord to bring people to faith in Christ and to strengthen the local church.

Most summer missionaries return stating they received more than they gave and found themselves changed forever by the experience.  Some who go out will later explore a longer term missions involvement.  Some will not.  All will have a greater sensitivity to what God is doing around the world.

Leaders of the trip write:

Hi!

We are still in Huanoco. The students are having so much fun! They are working with a medical clinic in the morning and dramas in the afternoon.
Some of our students have seen cleft lips repaired, tumors removed, skin grafts and many other things.
The dramas are going very well. Many of your young people have been stretched as we encourage them to go out and share their testimonies. I stood in awe yesterday as I walked around and listened to them sharing the Gospel.

Andrew, Megan, Emily, and Casey, are just a few of the ones I heard sharing yesterday. I was absolutely blown away by their conviction and obvious heart to communicate with the Peruvian people. I wish I could take a video camera and show each of you how your children are absolutely changing people's lives:

- Calebs Spanish is getting better and better
- Danielle is stepping out of her shell
- Keith is so funny during the heart skit that you are crying by the end of it
- Jonathan was almost taken over by 7 year olds this morning while attempting to play basketball with them
- Nick is a kid magnet - they flock to him
- Kevin¨s wisdom and passion as he shares is convicting
- Oliver, Jessica and Lauren have handed out so many prescriptions I think they may have found a new calling in life
- Kristi is just as passionate as ever
- Dee was so excited to scrub into a surgery that I thought she might have a heart attack
- and Lauren is so serious about patrolling the door to the hospital every morning that even the Doctors can¨t get in.

All of these moments make up an incredible day and help pave the way for men and women to know the Lord. Each of them is doing such a good job and we are so proud of them.
I hope this gives you a glimpse into our everyday life here in Peru. Thank you so much for the prayers.

God Bless!
