Summer Missions 2006

Summer Missions 2005

text

Our team this year will assist in church planting ministries, through VBS, sports, home visitations and evangelism services.  They will also be offering medical clinic services, spiritual counseling for sick or needy persons and training classes for church leadership.  In previous trips to Moldova, missionaries have seen God work in powerful ways in a place that desperately needs His message.

Ed reports:

Team Moldova has arrived home safely.  Thank you for your prayers - the ministry went very well, from the medical clinic to the children's ministry to the pastoral/leadership training times.  God was glorified.

It is Sunday night, and we are having dinner at the home of my interpetor, Boris and his Family.

Here in Moldova it is REALLY WARM about 40 (celsius) on an average with days about 45 (celsius) deg. (113 F) and this is NOT a dry heat. The ministry is going great. The two villages Budai and Alexanderfield both have young new pastors working the villages.

Friday night at the closing of the outreach service, Jason presented the Pastor with the guitar that had been brought with us. This congregation has been praying for any type of musical instrument, a definite God thing !!!!

Sorry communication has been poor at best.  Anyway, things are going well.  We spent 3 days in Budai Village where we held a clinic with about 50+ in attendance and VBS had 45 kids!  Testimonies and evening services are going well with a couple of people giving their lives to Christ.  The people here are very happy to see us once again, as we are they.

I must tell you, Jason is a hit.  The translators are amazed at his humble attitude, his gentle spirit and the joy with which he serves.  He truly is a joy to have on the team!

Today we went to the other village, Alexanderfield.  The clinic was hopping, the team had a great time visiting the homes and inviting people to services, and the kids are in abundance.

We are having some trouble with the heat.  Jason had to come into the clinic today, suffering from the heat.  We were able to use the cold pack you sent along and were grateful to have it.  He is fine.  We (the medical team, all women!) gave him the royal treatment and he was the envy of everyone!

Other things to pray for:  there is a bar across the street from the church and they don't like us holding the service outside.  They are running motorcycles in the dirt right next to us, squealing up and down the street, etc.  We know they are just trying to be a nuisance, but we do not want any trouble.  On a lighter note, we had 7 people come forward tonight!  That was the biggest single response yet.  Please pray that the Lord will work in the hearts of the people here.  Their lives are so hard and because of this, some of their hearts are as well.   They think they have been forgotten by God.

This has been a difficult trip in regards to the heat.  The days for us are long and by about 3PM we are done in, however we still have work to do and don't get home until 10:30 PM or so and that does not mean straight to bed!  Pray for us.  We are almost through here, but God is not.

Love and blessings and Grace to You!  Looking forward to seeing you soon!

WEDNESDAY, JULY 18, 2007:

Hey everyone,

Today is Wednesday. Today we finished up in the village of Booday and it was awesome. Yesterday (Tuesday) the weather was hot and humid - about 101 degrees. We invited people to the clinic and to the other programs we were doing that day. The clinic had people waiting for us when we arrived in the morning and stayed busy most of the day. The children's program went well - we had about 45 children. We did crafts with them, told them a Bible story and of course played games.

The evening service was very good with more people there than the night before and two people made a public confession of faith. God is so awesome.

This morning (Wednesday) the clinc was open and again people were waiting for us when we arrived. Several of us went to a house (more like a school) for children aged Pre-Kindergarten to Kindgergarte. There were about 20+ children there and we played games and sang a song and even had a little round of the "Hokey-Pokey". In the afternoon we did children's ministry and had a little over 50 children there. We had lots of fun even though it was about 104 degrees. I shared the gospel with them and ask only those who really meant it to pray with me.  Later when we were done, one of the leaders asked the kids to raise thier hands if the sincerely prayed such a prayer, and most them raised thier hands.  It was an awesome sight.   And yes we had Ice-cream.

This evening more people showed up for the evening meeting and a great evening was had by all.  God was definitely glorified and the gospel was preached. Several people went and talked to the pastor when it was over and he prayed with them.   I do not know if they accepted Christ or were in need of prayer.  We had to pack up and go as it was already late and now it is very late

.
Tomorrow and Friday we will be in Alexanderfield, a church plant that was started in 1999.

God is good-all the time!  Please keep praying for our team.  The heat is draining away our strength everyday.

In the Lord's service

FRIDAY, JULY 13, 2007

Ed reports:

The team made it safely (with luggage in tact) to Moldova after a lengthy travel time.  The team was delayed about one hour leaving LAX due to a medical emergency with one of the passengers.  They made their connection in Atlanta without any problem as they had plenty of time between flights.

Pray for the team.  The preaching begins on Saturday and continues on Sunday with the team members splitting up and going to different churches in the area.  The ministry will actually begin on Monday with a medical clinic.
