Our summer ministry sites are carefully selected
to provide our teams the opportunity to make
a spiritual impact cross-culturally. The
trips are not vacations, nor are they simply
an exposure to missions.
We send people where their gifts and energies can
be used by the Lord to bring people to faith in
Christ and to strengthen the local church.
Most summer
missionaries return stating they received more than
they gave and found themselves changed forever by
the experience. Some who go out will later
explore a longer term missions involvement.
Some will not. All will have a greater sensitivity
to what God is doing around the world.

Hello there from Kenya!
Amanda here, I'm writing to let you know that I am alive and well and loving the 'winter' weather here. (It's warmer than a SCV winter that's for sure!)
I have been here for about a month now and am getting into the swing of things, and adapting quite well to Kenyan time( you get there when you get there), maybe too well. The people here are very friendly, they like to wave to the Mazungu ( white person aka: me), and it has been alot of fun.
The children at Kids Alive are full of energy, excitement and love. The little girls like to 'braid' my hair; a few times, I have found myself cutting out knots that took alot of talent to make! The boys are crazy, they love to jump on me when I am not looking and mimic everything that I say. Most of all they just love being around anyone; held, hugged, and tickled are the three top activities!
So what do I do there besides hanging out with kids? I teach Bible lessons in the mornings and evenings Monday through Friday to kids ages 3 to 12, and a group of teenage girls one night a week. I also have an evening worship night every night with the older girls, and it is a good time to hang out with them because the older ones go to school all day and have work and classes in the evening. Also, I have had had the chance to go to another sight and see Mount Kenya wich is the home for the older boys with Kids Alive in Kenya, which is a beautifiul area with great guys ages 11 and up.
The needs here are great, and your prayer is needed. Please be praying for the children, that they would be able to do well in their studies and stay healthy. There are children here with AIDS and so threat of colds and Malaria are real threats here.
Please be praying for the staff: the Teachers, Caregivers and Over-sears of the orginization. They are wonderful people who are amazing with the kids but they are overworked and at times ovewhelled with their responsibilites and practical needs.
Please pray that I, along with Brittany Clark,a fellow MBI student that I have come with, will be able to do the work that God has sent us here for and that we would do it well; representing His word to a group of children who need His daily bread.
Thank you so much for your support, I cannot say enough to how much I have been blessed by your prayer and constant support of me in missions throughout the years. God bless you and thank you again.
