Saturday, July 24, 2004: Today we travelled to the town of Cheb with the Czech students. Our ministry at the camp was fruitful and we have made some good friends during our time with the students. Pray that our time in their homes would help further those friendships. Tomorrow we will worship with them in their home church. We're getting ready to wrap up our time in Czech and head back to the states on Thursday! Becky for the team Thursday, July 22, 2004: Grace to you! All is well here. We are in the midst of camp. The Cheb youth group is wonderful, and we are enjoying being partners in ministry with them and with the Josiah Venture short and long-term missionaries. There are about fifteen non-Christians here at camp out of fifty-five people total. We have truly enjoyed getting to know everyone in the camp. Everyone has had several opportunities to have deeper conversations with one or two Czech students. Tonight's evening program is going to be a presentation of the gospel message. Your prayers would be appreciated. Lord willing, Thursday we will be hiking to Snezka, the highest mountain in the Czech - seven thousand feet - our camp lodge is in the foothills below it. This is a great day for getting to know our Czech friends even better, and then the evening allows for a more relaxed discussion group. This is usually the evening when most people become Christians during camp week. Saturday we will travel with the Czechs back to their hometown of Cheb. We will worship with them in their home church on Sunday and then do follow-up ministry the next couple of days before we head back to the States. It was great having Pastor Mike stop by for two days. I praise God for his leadership and encouragement. It wasa timely visit and refreshed my heart. God bless you. Thank you for your prayers, We depend on them, Becky and the team
Monday, July 19, 2004: I got to spend two nights with the team at the mountain camp north of Prague where they are reaching out to Czech teens through English teaching. Everyone's doing great, making lots of new friends and creating relationships in which they can share their faith. Half of the Czech students there are unbelievers, so this approach really does work. Pray for health for the team - a headcold is making its way through the group, normal in the enclosed environment but annoying for those who catch it. At
the end of this week, they will go back to the home town of those who
came and get to know them on their turf. There may not be many e-mail
updates until then, as internet connection is extremely limited at the
camp. Thursday, July 15, 2004: The Czech team has spent the first few days getting oriented to the culture of Prague, receiving training to work at the camp, and also had an historical tour of Prague. The tour was done from the viewpoint of the Christian influence on the city. The team will be going to the English Camp tomorrow (Friday) to begin their ministering there. Pastor Mike is arriving on Friday and will be meeting them at the camp. Pray as they begin their time at the camp. Wednesday, July 14, 2004: Our Czech Team has arrived in Prague safe and sound. A couple of plane delays, but made time up while in the air. They are at the hotel in Prague and have completed a morning of training. This afternoon they are taking a "history tour" of Prague. Pray as they will begin their ministering. Tuesday, July 13, 2004: The Czech Republic team arrived safely in London and are now on their way to Prague. Pray for a safe travel to Czech Republic and for a fruitful ministry while there. June 9, 2004: The dates for our Czech Republic team's mission is July 12-29! They are busily preparing to go and minister in an English Camp for Czech youth. Christian Czech youth invite their unsaved friends to go to this camp with them, where the gospel is presented. The Grace team will serve as conversation partners for the Czech teens and will share the gospel with them in the context of that friendship. Pray for the hearts of the Czech youth who will be attending this camp. Also pray for the Czech team as they prepare to leave on July 12!
