September 2009 Prayer Letter

Dear Family and Friends,

The Flock of His People :

When we have large groups at THE OAKS we are reminded of how the Lord refers to us as His flock.  Our hearts are constantly encouraged through the diversified groups that come to camp.  They show their love for the Lord in many different ways.  Zechiariah 9:16 says, "The Lord their God will save them on that day as the flock of His people.  They will sparkle in His land like jewels in a crown."

The Asian American Christian Fellowship (AACF) has come  to The Oaks for many years at the beginning of summer.  They are a missions organization, training and equipping college students to evangelize their campuses across the western United States.  This year 87 students came from 12 college campuses.

A few years back, AACF started a tradition of spending a few hours doing a work project at The Oaks during their stay.  This year we challenged them to a herculean project of building a stairway up to our new Rosey Grier Commons.  Jeff and his maintenance team built forms for the stairs the week before the students arrived.  AACF was to backfill behind each step with dirt, compact it down, and place nearly 500 pavers on top.  They were so committed to finishing their project that they worked through lunch ... and so proud they were of their accomplishment that they had their camp picture taken on the steps.  It is such a blessing when guest groups give back to The Oaks.

We are so appreciative of each of you who have served our family and The Oaks Camp through your continued prayers, friendship, and financial support.

Honored to work alongside you,

Jeff and Terri
