Dates: April 25-May 7

This nine-person GO Team is serving at a camp in Porto Astro outside of Athens, as they help with various maintenance projects and prepare the facility for summer camps for Middle-Eastern refugees.  Projects include a new floor for the kitchen, updating electrical, and light construction in the dorm rooms.

Our Greece Maintenance GO Team arrived home last night after a long but uneventful flight from Athens.  Our hosts were thrilled at how much was accomplished, and can't wait to see the fruit of the team's labors over the summer.

The team members are grateful for your prayers, and eager to share with you how God answered them.  We are tentatively planning a report from the team for Sunday, June 1, at 12:15 in the F Mod.  Check back here next week to see if that date is confirmed.

Updated Monday, May 5
The team has wrapped up its work at the camp, and has come to Athens for a night of ministry at the refugee center before leaving for the airport tomorrow, planning to return to Santa Clarita on Wednesday.

It was a fruitful trip, tiring but worthwhile, and they got a LOT of work done to prepare the camp for a great summer of outreach.  A new tile floor in the kitchen, significant upgrades in the dorm rooms, a zip line, a sandbox, new shade covers, and much much more.  Thank you for praying for a good ministry, and for a safe trip home.

The team got to serve dinner in Athens to some of the same refugees who will benefit later this summer from their work at the camp.  It was the "dessert" on a wonderful and productive week.

The team's remote location make it impossible to send detailed updates - only texting is possible, so Bobbie Davidson has written this summary of the most recent text from the team:

"The team is doing well.  They are tired, but happy and feel extremely blessed to be there having opportunity to serve. They are working hard and long hours.   John G is having the time of his life; both Randys think it's awesome; Real is loving it; evidently Jeff is eating a lot.     :-)    They have put the kitchen back together, are finishing the sandbox and climbing wall.  John is working on electrical and has run into a few issues...working through them."

Thanks for your prayers for our team at around the halfway point of their ministry.

Updated Wednesday April 30
Communication from the remote camp location is limited, so we are just receiving basic details.  The team has installed tile in the camp kitchen, installed the children's zip line, and repaired the rock climbing wall.  They are now working in the dorms, repairing walls and ceilings and working on electrical issues.  Thanks for your prayers!

Our Greece Team arrived in Athens on Saturday after an uneventful trip, met up with our partners in Hellenic Ministries, and made its way out to the remote camp to begin the work.

The first two days of work included the clearing out of the camp kitchen to prepare for its new floor, prep work on dormitory walls, pouring of a concrete floor in the kitchen, repair of outdoor lights, the construction of a zip line station, building a shed over the propane tanks, and tarp coverings on the dining area and conference area.  The weather has been windy, rainy and cold, but the team is doing great!  Thanks for your prayers as they serve.
