Clint Ungashick
Flagstaff, AZ
Ministry Overview: Clint serves in leadership development and discipleship, including youth ministry, among Native American ministries with the goals of strengthening and planting Native churches and equipping and mentoring believers into ministry. He also develops discipleship and Bible teaching materials geared for Navajo culture, and assisting Native Christian leaders in the business aspects of organizing and operating Native churches.
Where He Lives: Flagstaff sits at 7,000 feet in the largest Ponderosa Pine forest in the US against several mountains that range from 9000 to 12,000 feet. Winters average 100 inches of snow and there is often a 40 degree temperature difference between day and night year-around. Flagstaff is a city of 70,000 people, with almost 10% of the population being Native American. Northern Arizona University is located in Flagstaff and has 16,000 students with 2000 being Native American. The Navajo Reservation, an area about the size of West Virginia, extends from just 20 miles outside of town all the way into Utah and New Mexico. Most of the reservation consists of high deserts and mesas but there are a few areas that have pine forests.
Prayer Requests: Pray that Clint would remain faithful to his calling to minister among the Navajos. Pray that the Navajo youth he works with would put their faith and abiding trust in the true God. Pray that Navajo Christians would each see their calling to minister in some way in and through the Navajo church. Pray that Godly leaders would be raised up in the culture and be led to plant churches among their people.

January 2012
In Navajo, the month of January is called Yas Nilt'ees, which means "crusting or icing of snow."
Yá’át’ééh! Thank you for supporting this ministry to Navajos. God works through the prayer and financial support of His people to accomplish His purposes.
This semester, Larry (Navajo), one of the students from Indian Bible College is doing his Christian Service Assignment (CSA) with Native Harvest. The purpose of the CSA is to give the student an opportunity to learn about ministry and the workings of the local church. Larry’s CSA plan will expose him to a wide variety of ministries: some weeks setting up chairs, emceeing, website administration, counting the offering, producing the church bulletin, leading Bible studies, and preaching.
In February, the church will conduct its annual planning retreat. This year’s devotion will remind everyone of the church’s vision and purpose: Native believers reaching out to Native unbelievers. Statistics show that cultural insiders are much more effective at this than outsiders. To facilitate evangelism and discipleship, some goals include encouraging everyone to develop godly character qualities, spiritual gifts, and talents (including intellectually, financially, health-wise, communication skills, etc.), then exercising these in the local church for God’s glory. Furthermore, we must realize that much of this development occurs during the exercising. Finally, everyone needs exhorted to serve in the power of the Lord, not depending upon their abilities and not making excuses because of their perceived inabilities. "Courage is action in spite of fear" (Ray C. Stedman).
Please pray:
- That the Lord will bless Larry in learning, developing, and ministering at Native Harvest.
- That the Holy Spirit will work in the hearts Navajo believers to step out in faith in ways that will glorify Him and promote His Kingdom.
- For the Lord's wisdom, guidance, and provision for me.
Ahéhee’ (Thank you) again and blessings,
Clint Ungashick
