Cambodia Summer 2011

Almost home!!!

Hello friends and family....thanks in for your patience these past two weeks!  We have had pretty much no internet...We are all safe and sound in the Taipei airport waiting for our connection flight.  Students are having fun playing Cambodia style Hacky Sak in a secluded part of the airport.  Team bonding still happening..this has been a great team in unity!  They will be sad to leave everyone and part ways at LAX!  But so happy to see all of you and be home!  We had a great Debrief at the Mekong River last night!  They can't wait to share their hearts and stories with you!

We love you all and will see you soon!

Ant Boy!

When we were at the Village there was this little boy. He never told us his name, but we all called him Ant Boy, because he would throw ant's at us. He was the cutest thing ever! He would come over and play hand games with me and we would try and communicate, but I never really could understand what he would said. We had such a silly friendship that we grew so close, that it was so hard to say goodbye. He came and hugged me and then came back over like 5 times! It was really hard, but sweet at the same time. I will never forget his face or his smile!

Cambodia Smiles...

I have really enjoyed my time in Cambodia and God has taught me so much here!  One of the things that really stood out to me was that the kids here are so much more grateful than the kids in America.  When we would pass out crayons, marbles, or water bottles they wouldn't yell for the purple or green, they were just happy to have something.  What I learned from this is that we should be more grateful for what God gives us and provides us with rather than complaining if it was not exactly what we wanted it to be.  I love that everyone in Cambodia is so happy and always smiling no matter what! All you have to do is say hi and you know it brightened up their day.  They will invite you into their house and want to talk to you.  God has done some amazing things while we've been here and will continue to!  I love you Mom and Dad and tell Grandma I say hi and I love her too! I hope your'e having fun in New York! I wish I could have come! I miss you guys and I'll see you when you get home!
Love,
Hannah

TIC: This is Cambodia

Yay! finally we are able to blog... ive been thinking about what to say and as soon as i sat down to blog i completly forgot. But i can say we are having so much fun out here and we are growing closer to God every day. Starting off the trip was a struggle for me. it was hard to adjust to the food and the environment but now we all seem to feel at home. God has been teaching me to completly rely on him and live every day glorifying to him. God has humbled me so much throughout the trip. Im excited to return home to my friends and family and really appreciate the little things. I love you Mom and Dad and all you siblings. :)
love always,
Christina
ps. Dont forget to pick me up at the airport! oh and the new puppy. ;)

One Rainy day....

It was the last work day in the village, it had not rained much that week. Everyone was exausted and physically drained. It began to rain, and it rained for about 15 minutes. We were all dancing, some were even shampooing there hair in the rain! When it stopped everyone sighed and were like awwww man! We began to realize, we need to learn to be content with the littlest things in life that God gives us! It ended up raining even harder later and did not stop, so we began to play soccer in the rain at a soccer field just across the road! Anyways, I love you mom, papa, and dad!

latest update

Hey this is Deb, thanks so much for your prayers.  This week we are working at RDI base doing lots of service projects for the community.

Everybody is healthy, will try to get the students blogging tonight.  I apologize for the lack of communication on the blog, the internet here is spotty at best.

The students are being touched, hearts are being softened.  Be looking tomorrow for some messages home from your students.
